General For those who love sunny days and wide open space, Arizona is the place to be. One of its best-known features is the Grand Canyon, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The largest city in Arizona is the state capital Phoenix, which is home to approximately 1.5 million people. This booming city is a wonderful co-mingling of pueblo architecture, immaculate high rises, providing a visual representation of the city's cultural diversity. Other major cities in Arizona include Chandler (population of approximately 180,000), Mesa (population of approximately 400,000), and Tucson, with just under 500,000. The state was first known for its production of the five C's---copper, citrus, cattle, cotton, and climate. While 2/3's of the nation's copper is still mined from the area, Arizona is know better known for its thriving tourism industry.
Real Estate For more detailed information on current real estate market conditions and knowledgeable service in the Arizona real estate market, contact Kevin Fike directly. You can also check the bottom of this page for listings in the Arizona area.
Education Arizona is in Maricopa County, which holds 58 separate schools districts. Phoenix alone had 16 of these districts with over 150 public schools schools and more than 80 private schools. This variety and quantity ensures that everyone in the Arizona area has easy access to the education of their choice. Post-secondary students will be delighted to learn that the University of Phoenix is regarded as the top private school in the U.S., especially lauded for its advances in online education. Other opportunities include Grand Canyon University, Arizona, State, Phoenix College, and Paradise Valley community college. The city also has an excellent range of technical and trade schools.
Recreation Vacation-goers flock to Arizona for its beautiful climate and landscape. The numerous parks in the area make for excellent camping, hiking, biking, sightseeing and trail riding. And Arizona, despite its desert reputation, DOES have plenty of lakes for water-skiing, swimming, scuba diving, jet-skiing, boating, fishing, and more water-sports. Children may especially enjoy the Enchanted Island Amusement Park---a theme park in Phoenix, or paintball, mini-golf and laser tag venues around the state. Spelunkers and cavers will be delighted by the caves around Arizona---just contact the National Speleological Society or National Caves Association to direct you toward some of the world's most fascinating underground lairs. For those who enjoy exploring the great indoors, there are many unique shopping opportunities throughout the state. Local artists are present everywhere, offering goods made from Arizona products or portraying some of the beauty of the state. Especially of note are portraits of the exquisite sunsets to be found in Arizona---you'll scarcely be able to believe the incredible colors! For those looking to explore the culture, the Phoenix Art Museum, Heard Museum (located in Phoenix), Mesa Southwest Museum, and Superstition Mountain Museum (located in Apache Junction) are all excellent places to start. The Arizona Science Center in Phoenix is also a fascinating place to learn more about the innovations of modern science.
